Raising a Reader
Storytimes
Parents and caregivers can learn how to encourage reading by observing what goes on during library storytimes. Librarians include activities in age-specific storytimes to help even the youngest children get ready to read. Short explanations are given to help the adults understand the reasons behind the different techniques of developing literacy skills.
By doing the activities you have seen in storytime at home, you are helping your child become ready to read. Keeping your booksharing time together enjoyable is the most important thing you can do to help your child become interested in reading and books when he is learning to read.
You may borrow materials to read together with your child from our large collection of board books and picture books.

Welcome Baby Gift Bags
Have you recently had a baby or do you know someone who has? The Friends of the Randolph Library would like to welcome new Randolph babies with a gift bag. A board book is included to introduce the pleasure of reading. If you have a newborn, just ask for a Welcome Baby Gift Bag at the circulation desk. You may also fill out a referral form for another Randolph newborn, and a gift bag will be mailed to the family.
