Request items online from the M.A.I.N. Library Catalog, phone in your request, or fill out a request form at the circulation desk.
Most items which appear in the M.A.I.N. Library Catalog can be requested by entering your Randolph card number and PIN on the login screen. After searching and finding an item you wish to request, click “Details” on the “Search Results” page and then “Place Hold” on the left side of the individual record page. Choose your pickup location and click “Place Hold.” You will receive a message verifying that the hold was placed for you. If your account is blocked for any reason, you may call the library and ask the staff to place the hold for you.
If your desired title is not owned by a M.A.I.N. member library, you may ask library staff to locate it for you, or you may search and place a request in JerseyCat. JerseyCat is a virtual catalog that allows you to search the collections of over 700 New Jersey public and college libraries at one time.
You may choose to be notified by a phone call or by an automated e-mail notice. Library staff can set your patron record to specify the method you prefer. An e-mail notice will have the subject “Library Notice” and will be sent from “Your MAIN library.” To prevent the notices being sent to a “spam” folder, you may want to add sirsi@unicorn.mainlib.org to your approved address list.
All residents of Morris County who are home-bound, disabled or lack transportation to get to a library may have books mailed to you from the Morris County Library with return postage pre-paid.
The Libraries-by-Mail service allows you to select your own books or media (audiobooks, CDs, videos, music) or have librarians make selections based on your reading profile. Selections are regular or large print and may include books borrowed from other libraries.
