Free Downloadable Audiobooks

Do you listen to audiobooks while
commuting, jogging, or folding your laundry?
Are you sometimes too busy to go to the library
to return your audiobooks and borrow more?

The Randolph Library is pleased to announce a new, convenient, and flexible service for its patrons—downloadable audiobooks from Recorded Books and NetLibrary.

Starting Monday, May 1, 2006, we will offer over a thousand digital audiobook titles, including bestsellers such as David McCullough’s 1776 and Alexander McCall Smith’s The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, classics such as Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, book club favorites such as Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, and the award-winning Pimsleur language series. More titles will be added monthly from Recorded Books, a leading producer of high-quality unabridged audiobooks that are narrated by professional actors.

NetLibrary audiobooks work on any desktop or laptop computer or portable device that supports copy-protected Windows Media Audio (WMA) files. You can transfer your favorite titles to a wide range of portable devices, including music players, media centers, Pocket PCs, and even select smart phone devices. However, they cannot be downloaded to Macs or transferred to iPods at this point in time.

Library staff will be glad to answer any questions and help you get started using this new service.
