As women’s role in society evolved from housewife to corporate CEO, the image of women in mystery fiction changed. From amateur sleuths, like Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple, to hard-boiled female sleuths modeled on characters like Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe.
