JCP&L has implemented storm plans and has additional utility and contractor crews available. They reported that utility crews from Ohio are traveling to New Jersey today to provide additional support. Staging sites are also being prepared to handle the influx of outside crews. JCP&L will be ramping up their storm updates on social media and on the company website. Follow them on Twitter (@JCP_L), on Facebook at http:www.facebook.com/JCPandL or online at http://www.jcp-l.com.
As always, customers who are without power should call 1-888-544-4877 to report the outage, or click “Report Outage” link at the JCP&L website. In the event of severe weather, immediately report downed wires to the utility or the local police or fire department. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris. Motorists should treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.
Morris County reminds residents to check the road conditions and forecast data before deciding to travel. Please consider how long your commute will take so you do not find yourself on the roadways when road conditions may not warrant travel. During the last storm, they found many people on the roadways when they should not have been. Plows and emergency vehicles were impacted with roadways that were impassable because of motorists who should not have been out driving. Major roadways became parking lots and emergency resources had to be utilized to address issues that were easily avoidable.
