Police Charge Juvenile in Goddard Incident
Posted: February 27, 2013
On February 22, 2013, the Randolph Township Police Department received information from the corporate offices of Goddard Systems Inc. in reference to a threatening comment posted within social media. The comment was not directed at a specific location and just referenced Goddard schools in general.
Goddard Systems immediately notified their schools of the threatening comments, directed their schools to contact their local police departments, and go on a “voluntary lockdown.”
After an aggressive investigation, it was determined that the comment was posted by a 17-year-old male resident of Randolph Township. The juvenile was charged with making terroristic threats. All indications were that at no time were any students at Goddard schools in danger.
The Randolph Township Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
