Construction Continues on Salem Street Bridge

Posted: March 1, 2012

This project, which involves replacing the superstructure on Salem Street over Route 10, is advancing to the next stage which will necessitate closure of the Salem Street bridge.

Weather permitting, New Jersey’s Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will be beginning this work Friday, March 16, 2012.

As a result, the Route 10 lanes will have shifts and off-peak lane closures with intermittent short term full closures overnight for demolition and steel erection.

We have been advised by the NJDOT that the closure and detour routes below will last for approximately 6 months.

Route 10 EB to Salem Street NB
Traffic will be detoured past the exit to the jughandle at Franklin Road to make a u-turn onto Route 10 WB to the Salem Street exit.

Salem Street SB to Route 10 EB
(vehicles less than 4 tons)
Traffic will be detoured to Franklin Road EB to the Franklin Road intersection at Route 10.

Salem Street SB to Route 10 EB
(vehicles greater than 4 tons)
Traffic will be detoured to Route 10 WB to the jughandle at Millbrook Avenue to make a u-turn onto Route 10 EB.
