White Tail Deer Hunt Information Session
Posted: June 3, 2013
The Randolph Township Wildlife Management Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting on June 20, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the community center on Calais Road (adjacent to the library).
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information to residents considering granting permission for deer hunting on private property.
State regulations will be reviewed by members of the committee and discussion will take place on how to coordinate safe opportunities for deer hunting in residential areas.
This is a great opportunity to learn how the committee has targeted neighborhoods in the Shongum section and successfully reduced the deer population. White tailed deer often move into residential properties as a result of overgrazing the woodlands. In many areas, deer have all but eliminated the understory and next generation of native trees and plants.
