Summer Camp

The Randolph Township Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and Artworks Studio staff are pleased to offer several summer camp programs from pre-K aged children through teens.

Camp will be conducted Monday through Friday at the air-conditioned Artworks Studio located behind the municipal building on Millbrook Avenue. All classes will be taught by Artworks instructors Debbie Sasaki, Karen Brown, Laurel Clark and Anne Marie Tatkow.

2019 Summer Camp for Students

Week 1: Spy Kids

July 8 - 12
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Who: Students who are entering grade 2 - completed grade 5
Fee: $290.00
Instructors: Debbie Sasaki, Anne Marie Tatkow
Have you ever wondered how a secret code works? Spy Kids will teach you that and much more as International Kids of Mystery! We will learn all about decoding, invisible ink and other spy gear by creating it all ourselves. Campers will go home with lots of innovative contraptions that will keep them busy with creative play all summer. Campers are to bring a snack and a lunch.

Week 2: Let’s Go to the Zoo!

July 15 - 19
9:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Who: Students who are entering Kindergarten - completed grade 3
Fee: $180.00

Animals, animals everywhere! Welcome to our Artworks Zoo! Explore your love for the wild side by venturing into the Antarctic, through the jungle, and across the Savanna. Campers are to bring a snack.

Week 3: Our Magic Garden

August 19, 21 and 22
9:30 a.m. to 12 noon
Who: Students ages 3-1/2 to 6 years old
Fee: $95.00
Instructor: Karen Brown
Enter our colorful, magical world full of insects, animals and flowers! Let your little ones creatively explore the natural world with a variety of art materials and techniques, including a pinch of glitter! Campers are to bring a snack.

2019 Summer Art Camp for Teens

Camp is open to teens who have completed grades 6 - 12. Classes are limited to ten students per class. Participants should bring a snack and lunch each day.

Session 1: Art Naturally

July 22 - 26
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Instructor: Laurel Clark
Before we can discuss composition, color theory, light and form, the art materials have to be made! Paper, paintbrushes, pens, paint, ink and dyes will all be made and used to develop drawings, prints, books and fabrics. Along with daily problem solving challenges and group projects, the week is packed with exploration!

Session 2: Art Differently

July 29 - August 2
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Fee: $290.00
Instructor: Laurel Clark
By using materials and objects differently from their intended use, we can’t help but develop unconventional points of view and artwork. Lots of 3D, collage, group projects are planned along with the more traditional drawing, painting and printing. Students will also be introduced to Outsider Art and artists that use unusual materials. Art is everywhere!
