At 11:06 a.m., Officer Michael Gomez took a report from a resident of 342 Quaker Church Road regarding identity theft. The victim indicated that while doing her taxes, she observed additional income from a business in California where she had never been employed.

At 1:00 a.m., the accused was stopped by Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez for a motor vehicle violation. An active warrant was located for the accused out of the Hopatcong Borough Municipal Court. He posted the bail of $250.00 and was released.

At 12:50 a.m., the accused was stopped by Officer Keith DeCarolis on Route 10. A random check of the accused’s license plate through the mobile data terminal showed that the accused had an outstanding warrant out of the West Orange Municipal Court. He posted the bail of $89.00 and was released.

At 10:24 p.m., Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez arrested the accused after locating an active warrant out of the following courts: Paramus ($215), Mt. Lakes ($354), and Mahwah ($750). The accused had been stopped for a motor vehicle violation. He posted bail and was released.

At 7:40 p.m., Officer Keith DeCarolis arrested the accused on the strength of a warrant issued out of the Mendham Twp. Municipal Court. There was also a warrant for the accused from Seaside Heights. He was turned over to Mendham Twp. PD.

At 12:43 p.m., the accused was arrested by Officer Randy Maccione on the strength of a warrant issued out of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office. This was a no bail warrant so the accused was turned over to the Sussex County Sheriff’s Dept.

At 11:37 p.m., Officer Keith DeCarolis responded to a residence on Sandra Lane for a family dispute. The complainant stated she was arguing with her 17-year-old about staying at a friend’s. There was no further police involvement.

Charged: William J. Vaccaro, age 19 of Landing NJ

At 11:00 p.m., Officer Kevin Clark stopped the accused on Sleepy Hollow Road after observing erratic operation by the driver. The accused was observed to have blood shot eyes. After speaking with the accused for several minutes, the accused admitted to Officer Clark that he had marijuana in the car. Sgt. Scott Arentowicz backed up Officer Clark. A bag of marijuana was located in the accused’s car. He denied ownership of the CDS as did the two 17-year-old female passengers in the car. All three parties were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana. The two juveniles were released to their parents. Mr. Vaccaro was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug related paraphernalia, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and improper actions during a turn.

At 7:17 p.m., a resident of Brandywine Court reported to Sgt. Scott Arentowicz that she and her husband had been involved in a domestic dispute in their home. She wished no other police action other than to document her complaint.

Accused was arrested by Officer Michael Kavanaugh for an outstanding warrant out of the Manahawkin Municipal Court. He posted the bail of $145.00 and was released.

At 4:18 p.m., Officer Richard Biase took a report from a resident of Fernia Drive regarding harassment. The victim indicated he is being harassed by another member of his tennis team. The victim was referred to the sanctioning body of the tennis team and advised of the process to sign complaints.

Charged: Jessica A. Frick, age 25 of Stanhope NJ

At 1:25 a.m., Officer Keith DeCarolis observed the accused operating her vehicle eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 10 after exiting a business at #500 Route 10. At least one vehicle approached the accused while she was traveling in the wrong direction on Route 10 and was able to avoid colliding with her. The accused then made a u-turn and began to travel in the correct direction. Office DeCarolis conducted a motor vehicle stop of the accused. Upon making contact with the accused, Officer DeCarolis detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath as she spoke. He also detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of her car. The accused was asked to perform several field sobriety tests and based on the results, she was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Officer DeCarolis located several bags of suspected marijuana in the accused’s car. Ms. Frick was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, improper turns on a highway, traveling the wrong way on a highway, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and driving while intoxicated. She was released to a friend.

Officer Jason Gould took a report from a resident regarding fraud. The victim had used an Internet service to solicit to purchase another party’s frequent flyer miles. A party contacted the victim by e-mail and agreed to sell her his miles. She forwarded a money order but never received the items agreed upon. The other party resides in Miami, Florida and a report was also made with the Miami PD.

At 9:37 a.m., Officer Richard Biase took a report from an employee of Darling International regarding the theft of two company dumpsters from the A&P Plaza on Center Grove Road. Through his investigation, he found that several of the restaurants in the plaza had signed contracts with a new waste oil recycling company. One of the missing dumpsters was located at the competitor’s yard in Pennsylvania. The complainant was advised of the steps required to sign a criminal complaint.

At 7:52 a.m., Officer Michael Kavanaugh responded to 17 Calais Road on a report of construction equipment being operated in violation of a local ordinance. The land owner and contractor were advised of the requirement of the ordinance and they agreed to comply.

At 12:02 a.m., officers took a report of mailboxes damaged on the following roads: Butternut Road, Fieldstone Court, Overbrook Road, Echo Ridge Road, Lookout Road, Forrest Road, Rickland Drive, Drum Hill Lane, and Prince Henry Drive. The police department is seeking assistance from residents and requesting that they call immediately when they hear a bang or crash in their neighborhood. Police did receive one call from a resident when this wave of criminal mischief took place.

Charged: Joseph M. McGlinch, age 24 of Jefferson NJ

Officers responded to a residence on Barclay Court for an argument. Patrols learned that a dispute had taken place inside the apartment and that some of the parties involved had left the scene. The accused was stopped by Officer Michael Gomez as a continuing part of this investigation. A warrant for the accused was located from Wayne Municipal Court and he was taken into custody. The bail on the warrant was $375.00 but was waived by the court administrator and the subject was processed and released on his own recognizance with a court date of 4-24-08.

At 12:15 a.m. while on patrol, Officer Randy Maccione observed obscene graffiti painted on the wall of a business on Sussex Turnpike.

Charged: Gregg E. Johnson, age 26 of Randolph NJ

At 6:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of “F” building in the Gateway Apartment complex to investigate a domestic violence incident. The caller advised police that the actor had left the scene in a silver Infinity and supplied the license plate number. The caller was advising that the female victim had suffered an injury as a result of the fight. Officer Kevin Clark observed the vehicle pass him on Center Grove Road. The vehicle was observed turning onto Quaker Church Road and then into the entrance of Quaker Village Apartments where it was stopped by Officer Clark. The accused was the operator of the car. When he was asked to exit his car by Officer Clark, he immediately became hostile toward Officer Clark and Sgt. Carl LeMarble. The accused continued to refuse to cooperate with the officer’s verbal commands and stood stiff with clenched fists. As Officer Clark attempted to handcuff the subject, he attempted to break away from the officers. A brief struggle ensued during which the accused suffered a bloody nose. The accused then spit a mouthful of blood on Officer Clark. The accused was transported to police headquarters. Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez assisted with the processing of the accused at HQ. The accused was charged with resisting arrest, throwing bodily fluids on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and aggravated assault for his fighting with the police and criminal restraint, as well as simple assault for his actions relating to the domestic dispute. Judge Ira Cohen set the accused’s bail at $75,000.00 and he was committed to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default.

At 8:57 p.m., Officers Randy Maccione and Stephen Zenes took a report from a resident of Dover regarding his car being damaged by several males who had exited a white Volkswagen Jetta on Franklin Road and thrown several objects at his car, some of which broke windows on the car.

Charged: Alex B. Rudolph, age 19 Rockaway NJ

At 12:15 a.m., Officer Michael Gomez observed a light-colored Chrysler Concord traveling west on Franklin Road. As the vehicle passed him, he observed the rear seat passenger leaning over into the front seat. Officer Gomez followed the car onto Franklin Road where he observed the car drift off the roadway. The car was stopped on Washington Avenue near Roosevelt Avenue. Officer Gomez detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of Rudolph as he spoke with him. Rudolph was asked to perform several field sobriety tests which resulted in his being placed under arrest. Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez backed up Officer Gomez on the stop. An unknown white powder was located in the accused’s wallet which he claimed was a prescription medication. The 18-year-old male passenger in the car was allowed to leave the scene on foot. The 15-year-old female passenger was transported to police headquarters and her parents were called to pick her up. Rudolph was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as motor vehicle summonses for underage DWI, failure to maintain a lane, violations of a provisional driver’s license, reckless driving, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Rudolph contacted a friend who came to HQ to pick him up.

At 10:31 a.m., Officer Edward Shivas took a report from a resident of Spruce Tree Lane regarding the unlawful taking of an automobile. The victim stated his ex-girlfriend had taken his rental car and had not returned it. The victim indicated she may be driving the car to Florida.

At 4:07 a.m., Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez observed the accused operating a red Honda on South Morris Street. The Honda was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway and almost struck Sgt. Gomez’s patrol car. The accused was stopped on South Morris Street by New Street. Upon approaching the operator, Sgt. Gomez was able to detect the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the accused’s breath, The accused was asked to perform several field sobriety tests. Based on the results of those tests, the accused was arrested and transported to HQ. The accused provided samples of his breath for chemical testing. Alvarez was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was released to a friend.

The accused was arrested by Officer Michael Gomez on an outstanding warrant out of the Denville Municipal Court. He posted the bail of $81.00 and was released.

Charged: Zachery W. Rey, age 19 of Hopatcong NJ

At 6:27 p.m., the accused was operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed on Route 10 east near Jennifern Avenue. Officer Brian McGaughran was operating stationary radar in the parking lot of Alfa Bagels and attempted to stop the accused. The accused turned right onto Center Grove Road and accelerated away from Officer McGaughran. The accused continued south on Center Grove Road and then onto Schoolhouse Road. He illegally passed two other motorists at a high rate of speed. As the accused attempted to make a left turn onto Knollwood Terrace, he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Officer Randy Maccione, who was off duty and had been passed by the accused, stopped and assisted Officer McGaughran with the arrest of the accused. Rey was transported to HQ. He was cooperative with the police and charged with a criminal complaint for eluding the police, motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, improper passing, and failure to stop for an emergency vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance. Officer McGaughran was assisted at HQ by Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez.

At 5:40 p.m., Officer Matthew Rispoli took a complaint of harassment from a resident of Sherwood Court. The resident advised that he had confronted an individual who was riding an ATV on his private property and the operator of the ATV was rude and harassing.

Between 11:00 p.m. on 4-18-08 and 8:00 a.m. on 4-19-08, officers took reports of damage to mailboxes from residents of Troutbrook Drive, Beaver Dam Road and Lookout Road. Resident are reminded to contact the police immediately if they hear any unusual noises at night. The fastest way to catch vandals like this is an immediate call to the police.

At 11:09 p.m., Officer Neil Caufield responded to the area of Schoolhouse Road and Center Grove Road on a report of a motorist pointing a gun at another motorist. Sgt. Christopher Giuliani and Officer Brian McGaughran also assisted as the investigation continued. Officer Caufield located the accused’s vehicle on Morris Turnpike and Chambers Place. The accused was transported back to HQ and charged with making a terroristic threat toward the other motorist. Judge Cohen set bail at $5,000.00 which the accused was able to post.

Officers were called to Randolph HS by the staff on a report of a student in possession of marijuana. The student was taken to HQ and then released to his father.

A resident of 342 Quaker Church Road made a report of domestic violence to Officer Jason Gould. Officer Gould advised the resident of his domestic violence rights and an application for a temporary restraining order was presented to Municipal Court Judge Cohen. The request was denied. The resident was advised of the process to apply for non-emergent restraining orders through the Superior Court.

The victim reported that his credit card information may have been taken when he was vacationing in Antigua. A sum of money was withdrawn from another foreign bank using his information at an ATM machine.

At 10:20 a.m., School Resource Officer Edward Shivas responded to the Vice Principal’s office to assist with a student who had been found to be in possession of marijuana. The student was processed at HQ and turned over to his mother.

At 5:11 p.m., Sgt. Scott Arentowicz was sent to the area of Route 10 and Hampton Court for a domestic dispute in a motor vehicle. Sgt. Arentowicz located the vehicle with Pennsylvania plates. He spoke with both parties who admitted to having been in an argument. Both parties were advised of their domestic violence rights and were allowed to leave the scene.

Officer Matthew Rispoli responded to a home on Springhill Road to take a complaint from the owner of a credit card fraud. The resident advised Officer Rispoli that a general contractor who had been working on his home had charged $700.00 worth of building materials without his approval. The homeowner was advised of the process to follow to file a criminal complaint.

At 3:23 p.m., Officer Keith DeCarolis and Sgt. Scott Arentowicz responded to the Motor Vehicle Commission Office located on Sussex Turnpike on a report of possible identity theft. A customer reported that someone else had obtained a New Jersey license in his name. Officers transported the customer to HQ and verified his identity by use of fingerprints. There was no further police action.

Charged: Ryan J. Griffin, age 18 of Randolph NJ

At 9:22 p.m., Randolph PD received a call from Robert Griffin of Quaker Avenue who advised his son, Ryan, had taken his car without permission after an argument. Officer Richard Biase was speaking to Mr. Griffin when Ryan returned home with the car. As Officer Biase was speaking with Ryan, he became belligerent. Officer Neil Caufield arrived at the location to assist. Ryan continued to be belligerent, escalating his behavior and assaulting Officer Caufield. Officer Biase intervened in the physical altercation and he was also assaulted by Ryan. Officer Biase administered pepper spray to Ryan. Ryan was placed under arrest due to his actions. As Ryan began to calm down, he spit on Officer Caufield. He was provided water which he also spat on Officer Caufield. Sgt. Christopher Giuliani was summoned to the scene. Ryan Griffin was transported to police headquarters where he was provided medical aid by the Randolph Rescue Squad. He was then transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville for assessment and treatment. Once he was released from the hospital, he was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility by Officers Bruce Heesemann and Brian McGaughran. Ryan Griffin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer, and terroristic threats. Judge Cohen set bail at $100,000.00, cash only. Both Officer Biase and Officer Caufield were treated and released from St. Clare’s, Dover campus.

At 12:02 a.m., Officers Brian McGaughran, Richard Biase, and Sgt. Christopher Giuliani responded to a residence on Springhill Road to investigate a report of a domestic dispute. The resident advised patrols that he and his girlfriend had been involved in an argument in the evening. The girlfriend then responded to the incident location and threatened to damage his car or house. No arrests were made.

Chris Giuliani and Officer Neil Caufield canvassed neighbors in the area for suspect information with negative results. The value of the stolen items was approximately $60.00.

At 9:36 p.m., Officers Kevin Clark and Randy Maccione responded to the parking lot of the A&P on a complaint of persons yelling crude remarks at other people. The officers located a red Volvo in the lot containing three occupants. Officer Clark spoke with the person seated in the driver’s seat, Nicholas Pedersen. During the course of the investigation, the accused admitted that he had been smoking marijuana. He was arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug related paraphernalia, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. The accused was released pending his court appearance.

At 2:14 a.m., Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez observed the accused operating his Chevrolet Lumina on South Salem Street. Sgt. Gomez observed numerous moving violations being committed by the accused and attempted to stop him at South Salem Street and Franklin Road. The accused traveled over the curb and into the parking lot of Advanced Auto Parts. As a result of the field sobriety tests administered by Sgt. Gomez, the accused was arrested and transported to Randolph PD. At headquarters, the accused was totally uncooperative with the officers attempting to process him. He refused to take the required breath test. The accused’s behavior was so belligerent that he was placed into a holding cell. Eventually a friend of the accused responded and took custody of him.

A 16-year-old from Jefferson was taken into custody for being within the school building during school hours without authorization. During the course of the investigation, it was also discovered that the individual had marijuana in his possession. The juvenile was charged with defiant trespassing and the drug offense and released to his mother.

Officer Brett Sommer took a report from a resident of 46 West Hanover Avenue relating to criminal mischief. The resident stated to the responding officer that he felt the act of criminal mischief took place because of his religious affiliation. Based on that, Officer Sommer amended the report to show this act of criminal mischief was also an act of bias intimidation. The Morris County Sheriff’s Department CIS unit assisted. The required notifications were made to the Morris County Prosecutor’s office and the New Jersey State Police. Any persons having information about this crime should contact Randolph PD.

Officer Brian McGaughran observed a vehicle operated by the accused traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 10 near Dover Chester Road. He then observed the driver make an unsafe lane change around another vehicle. The accused was stopped on Route 10 near Center Grove Road. Officer McGaughran made contact with the driver and immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath as she spoke. After failing the field sobriety tests, the accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters. At headquarters, the accused was uncooperative with the officers. She refused to answer any questions and refused to supply a sample of her breath. Officer McGaughran was assisted by Sgt. Christopher Giuliani. The accused was issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe lane change, failing to submit to a breath test and driving while intoxicated. She was released to another party with the same home address as hers.

At 5:38 p.m., officers responded to a residence on South View Road on a report of a burglary in progress. The victim supplied Communications Officer Michael Shoudy with a description of the man she had observed inside her home. The man fled after being confronted by the homeowner. Sgt. Scott Arentowicz was the first officer on scene. He observed a vehicle parked on an adjacent street. An individual near the car then asked Sgt. Arentowicz for assistance as he had locked his keys in his trunk. At this time, Sgt. Arentowicz observed a male fitting the description of the burglar sit up in the rear seat of the car. The suspect was ordered out of the car. Officer Keith DeCarolis arrived as backup for Sgt. Arentowicz. Both suspects were taken into custody. Additional officers from the Morris Township Police Department and Morris County Sheriff’s Officers Laird and Meyer arrived at the incident location as well as Randolph Detectives William Harzula and John Fichter and Officers Jason Gould, Frank Mygas, Neil Caufield, Matthew Rispoli, and Brian McGaughran. Officers were given the descriptions of additional suspects observed in the area by neighbors. This information was passed on to the other local police departments on the Morris County Interoperable Radio System (MIRS). Within a short period of time, Morris Township Police had located additional suspects in their jurisdiction. Four males were transported to Randolph PD and processed. The adult males were lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility and the juveniles were placed in the Morris County Youth Detention facility. Charges filed against the suspects include burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Randolph PD was also assisted by the Morris County Sheriff’s CID unit.

The accused was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug related paraphernalia, and two motor vehicle tickets—one for failing to maintain a lane and one for possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. He was released.

At 9:41 a.m., Officers Randy Maccione and Matthew Rispoli, and Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez responded to an apartment in Randolph Village on a report of a domestic dispute. While at the location, Officer Maccione observed three plastic bags that were torn open. He also observed a bobby pin with an end taped and burnt residue on it. Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez asked the accused who the marijuana belonged to and she admitted it was hers. She was arrested and transported to Randolph P.D. where she was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Werner was charged with simple assault as a result of the injury suffered by Ms. Cecere during their domestic dispute.

Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez ran a random license plate check on a blue Toyota Camry on South Salem Street at 1:15 p.m. The information provided by the state MVC showed that the registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. The accused provided Sgt. Gomez with a NJ digital driver’s license in the name of another. After additional questioning by Sgt. Gomez, the accused admitted she used a friend’s identity several years ago to obtain a NJ license because her license was suspended. Dunlap was charged with providing false information. She was also arrested on outstanding warrants out of West Caldwell ($621) and Livingston ($500.) She was able to post bail for both warrants and released.

At 10:45 a.m., a township resident reported that she had observed a car pass a stopped school bus at 8:13 a.m. The incident took place on Quaker Church Road. The reporting party stated that the bus driver was stopped with the lights flashing when a blue Volvo four door passed it. The driver sounded the horn on the bus as the Volvo passed. The reporting party was able to get the license plate information off the Volvo and she provided it to the police.
