Sgt. Jeffrey Gomes stopped the accused for a motor vehicle violation. Active warrants were located for the accused out of Rockaway Township as well as Morris Plains and Bedminster. The accused was unable to post the bail and was turned over to Rockaway Township PD.

Several items including jewelry and credit cards were removed. The investigation revealed that there was no forced entry into the house.

Charged: Steven M. Wagner, 19 of Randolph NJ

Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez observed the accused make an improper turn onto Quaker Church Road from Center Grove Road. When Sgt. Gomez approached the driver, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. The driver denied having had any alcohol to drink. Officer Randy Maccione was the backup officer on the stop. A passenger in the car was observed placing an object behind the driver’s seat in the car. That object was a bottle of vodka which was collected by Sgt. Gomez. The accused was put through several balance tests and as a result, was placed under arrest. At headquarters, Officer Stephen Zenes conducted the breath tests on the accused. Wagner was issued motor vehicle tickets for reckless driving and driving under the influence as well as criminal complaints for underage possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle and DWI within 1,000 feet of a school. Wagner was released to a friend.

Charged: Male juvenile age 17, three female juveniles age 16, all of Randolph NJ

Officer Stephen Zenes observed a vehicle entering a business complex off Route 10 at 10:42 p.m. when none of the business are open. Officer Zenes located the vehicle at the rear of one of the commercial buildings near the loading dock. Officer Randy Maccione arrived as backup. An open container of an alcoholic beverage was observed in plain sight by Officer Zenes. All four parties in the car denied knowledge of the alcohol and all were arrested. The juveniles were released to their parents.

Charged: Kenneth R. Codero, 33 of Denville NJ

Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez observed the accused’s vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Route 10 near the Roxbury border. The accused did not respond to the patrol car’s lights or siren as Sgt. Gomez attempted to stop him. Sgt. Gomez blocked the east bound traffic at Eyland Avenue to avoid a head-on collision with the accused’s vehicle. The accused finally came to a stop at the intersection of Route 10 and Eyland Avenue. Sgt. Gomez approached the accused’s vehicle and found the accused to have a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The accused was put through field sobriety tests and as a result, was placed under arrest. Officer Randy Maccione assisted on the arrest as the breath test instrument operator. The accused was issued tickets for reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the highway and driving while under the influence. The accused was transported to a friend’s house in Randolph.

Once at the residence, the officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the garage. The resident of the home indicated that someone had smoked a marijuana cigarette earlier in the night. Scott Arentowicz responded to a “be on the look out for” message for a vehicle involved in a shooting in Dover. Officer Gould observed the vehicle on Franklin Road and followed the car to a residence on Coolidge Avenue in Victory Gardens. A perimeter was established around the house on Coolidge. One of the subjects whom Officer Gould had observed in the vehicle was observed walking on South Salem Street and taken into custody by Sgt. Scott Arentowicz. The scene was held until the arrival of the New Jersey State Police.

The accused was unable to post the $1,200.00 bail and was turned over to Rockaway Township Police.

Officer Keith DeCarolis stopped a car for careless driving and found the operator to be 16 years old and unlicensed. The vehicle belonged to the juvenile’s parents who were unaware the child was operating the car. The juvenile was arrested and charged with the unlawful taking of a means of conveyance as well as motor vehicle violations for being an unlicensed operator, careless driving, operating a vehicle that was unregistered and uninsured. The juvenile’s parents took custody of the child at HQ.
