Immunization Program
The Randolph Township Health Department’s Adolescent and Adult Immunization Program is once again available to all residents.
As a result of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the only fee associated with vaccinations is a $15.00 administrative fee per visit.

- Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis)
For ages 10 or 11 to 65. Adult version of tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis created in response to increasing rate of childhood pertussis (whooping cough). Pertussis continues to be a serious threat to young children and over 90% of childhood pertussis can be traced back to an adult caregiver—be it parent, older sibling, grandparent or child care worker. It is given as a single dose and is required for students entering 6th grade as of fall 2008. - Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
Human Papillomavirus is the most common sexually transmitted virus in the United States. It is associated with cervical cancer in women, other types of cancer in both men and women, and genital warts in both men and women. The CDC recommends this vaccine for women and men ages 9-26. It is a 3 shot series. - Meningococcal Vaccine
Meningococcal disease is the leading cause of bacterial meningitis in children age 2-18. The CDC recommends this vaccine for all children age 11-18 and all adults who are at potential risk. It can be given to people 2-55 years of age. It is a single injection and is required for students entering 6th grade as of fall 2008.
There are a number of mandates regarding immunization for school-age children. Children attending preschools and licensed day care centers must obtain the following:
- pneumococcal conjugate vaccine before entering day care/preschool (ages 2 months to 59 months)
- a seasonal flu shot every year between September 1 and December 31 (ages 6 months to 59 months)
Meningococcal and Tdap vaccine must be given to all students entering the 6th grade who are 11 years of age and born after January 1, 1997.
Children under the age of 18 may be eligible for free vaccines under the federally funded Vaccines for Children (VFC) program which provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay. Children with Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care, NJ FamilyCare Plans, Native American, Alaskan Native, or who are uninsured are eligible.
