Municipal Alliance Committee: Initiatives
- Randolph Action Hotline
973-989-7007 is a 24-hour anonymous telephone line without Caller ID, focused on prevention. It can be utilized to help prevent an accident or to report illegal use of drugs or alcohol in the community.
- Homework Club
This is a prevention program that provides a safe, supervised place after school. Elementary and middle school students work on homework assignments, helped by teachers and RHS volunteers.
- Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
This after school peer leadership club is a chapter of the national peer-to-peer youth education and prevention organization and is open to all middle school students. SADD recognizes that the pressures on young people to drink, use illicit drugs and engage in other unhealthy behaviors are strong. The club informs, educates, supports and empowers young people to make positive decisions in their lives. The participants also deliver this message to their peers through programs and campaigns.
- Project Graduation
This is a supervised, alcohol-free, drug-free, all-night celebration to provide RHS seniors with a safe way to celebrate their graduation.
- Red Ribbon Week
This is a week in October dedicated to drug prevention awareness and education for our school children. Activities are organized by guidance counselors in elementary schools, RMS and RHS.
- Community RAP
This partnership between the MAC, the West Morris Area YMCA and RHS volunteers provides sports, games, crafts and dinner for 11-14 year old at-risk kids. RAP meets weekly during the school year and several times throughout the year at the YMCA for family nights. Presentations on alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) awareness and prevention are also provided throughout the year.
- Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets
Morris County and Randolph’s Municipal Alliance are embracing the 40 Developmental Assets approach to strengthen community asset building in our youth. The Search Institute’s research shows that the more assets young people have, the less likely they are to engage in many high risk behaviors. The web site provides tools for parents, teachers, community businesses, civic and social groups to actively engage in becoming asset builders. The Randolph MAC is prepared to come to your organization or group and present several ways you can become part of the community-driven prevention strategy to strengthen the health of our community. To find out more about the 40 Assets or to schedule a presentation for your neighborhood group, business, civic or social group, contact .
- S.A.F.E. (Support Alcohol Free Environment) Homes
S.A.F.E. Homes is a network of parents committed to sending a consistent message that underage drinking and drug use is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in their homes. The S.A.F.E. Homes pledge raises awareness, allows parents to network with other parents and encourages communication between parents and teens. The signing of the pledge does not change your legal responsibilities, rather it is meant to show your commitment to keeping all our children safe. The S.A.F.E. Homes Directory is a web-based list of Randolph parents who pledge to take an active role in preventing underage drinking and drug use in their homes. To join the S.A.F.E. Homes network, download the membership form .
- Parents Who Host Lose the Most
This important program is aimed at eliminating underage drinking throughout Randolph. We hope to inform parents of the civil and criminal consequences of hosting parties which allow underage drinking. About the 2009 campaign »

MAC provides education and training programs for Randolph’s parents. In the past, the “Parent to Parent” program has been offered and geared toward middle and high school parents while the “Systematic Training for Effective Parenting” (STEP) has been provided for elementary school parents.
In an effort to improve communication between parents and children, MAC sponsors “Dialogue Nights” and “Parent Forums.”
Additionally, MAC funds speakers and presentations for the entire Randolph community which are held at the Randolph Township Library.
Randolph MAC assists in the promotion of county sponsored Municipal Alliance programming that benefits all Morris County families.
