The Randolph Municipal Alliance Committee (MAC) was established in 1989 with the goal of combatting alcoholism and drug abuse in the community. It is one of thirty-one alliances across New Jersey, all of which are overseen by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and funded through Drug Enforcement Demand Reduction (DEDR) fines that are collected for drug-related offenses. The Randolph MAC is comprised of local community leaders, school and municipal employees, clergy and private citizens who want to be involved in preventing alcohol, tobacco and drug-related problems in the township.
For Randolph’s students, MAC provides funding for several school-based programs including Homework Clubs, Team Harmony, PRIDE and Project Graduation. MAC also supports the Randolph Police Department in its work with the Community RAP, National Night Out, and the Randolph Community Action Line which is a 24-hour anonymous telephone line without Caller ID, focused on prevention.
MAC also provides education and training programs for Randolph’s parents. Its “Parent to Parent” program is geared toward middle and high school parents while the “Systematic Training for Effective Parenting” (STEP) is prepared for elementary school parents. A streamlined Teen Parenting program is currently being researched for our community. In an effort to improve communication between parents and children, MAC also sponsors “Dialogue Nights” which have proven successful. Additionally, MAC funds speakers and presentations for the entire Randolph community which are held at the Randolph Township Library. Randolph MAC also helps to promote and communicate to our residents county MAC programming that benefits Randolph families.
If you would like to attend a meeting or get more information, contact Co-Chairperson at 973.328.7438. MAC is always looking for corporate sponsors to help in promoting education and prevention strategies.
