The Department of Parks and Recreation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of family life, the feeling of neighborliness and the sense of community throughout the township for a diverse and growing population. With that in mind, it provides a wide range of leisure activities and facilities for township residents of all ages as well as a series of programs and support to senior citizens, handicapped adults and others requiring special assistance.

Five advisory committees appointed by the Township Council work with the department to review and establish programs, policies and procedures. It is through the efforts of these committed volunteers—as well as two dozen program committees and more than 2,000 recreation volunteers—that the department is able to sustain such well-run and highly regarded programs.

Recreation Programs

The extensive array of recreational programs and community services offered by the department provides year-round opportunities for residents to remain engaged and active. There are numerous team sports for both adults and children, preschool programs, summer camps, hosted trips, theater arts, craft and art lessons…and a whole slew of cultural, historical and educational events on the schedule.

Every year, more than 75,000 registrants of all ages participate in a wide variety of community, family and individual events and activities. You are invited to browse through this web site to learn more about the offerings. Select the main “Parks & Recreation” link in the menu at your left to view information regarding the programs, facilities, events and extensive trail system.

And be sure to take advantage of the Online Registration service.
