[ARCHIVED] Help Us, Help You! Remember to Clear Fire Hydrants, Storm Drains & Sidewalks of Snow

Clear Snow - Fire Hydrants, Drains, Sidewalks

Help us, help you!

Please be apprised of the following reminders for snow/ice removal within Randolph Township:

The Randolph Fire Department asks all residents to assist in clearing fire hydrants after snow storms. Please check for your nearest fire hydrant, even if it is not on your property, and shovel it out. Fire hydrants that are not cleared are hard to find and difficult to operate. Your effort saves firefighters valuable time in an emergency, and it could save a life.

The Randolph Police Department also kindly reminds residents of local ordinance 44-316 which states that snow or ice accumulated on sidewalks fronting your property needs to be removed. If the property is on a designated school walking route or a commercial property, all snow and ice shall be removed within 12 hours of daylight after any snowfall or accumulation of ice occurs. Owners of all other properties shall cause all snow and ice to be removed from the sidewalk within 24 hours of daylight after any snowfall or accumulation of ice occurs.

Additionally, residents are asked to please check and clear storm drains from piles of snow, ice chunks, leaves, trash, and debris, to prevent the obstruction of the flow of melted snow as it flows toward the drains. Be advised that weather forecasts are predicting 2-4 inches of rainfall in the area between Tuesday, January 9, and Wednesday, January 10.
