[ARCHIVED] Randolph Township Fire Department presented new brush truck to Township Council

20230629_175405

The Randolph Township Fire Department’s (RTFD) latest addition to its fleet, a new brush truck, replaces its 30+ year old predecessor.

The RTFD had ordered the replacement brush truck in 2020 after the Township Council had approved Bond Ordinance No. 09-19 in 2019; due to various supply chain issues the chassis was finally received earlier in 2023 and has since been outfitted as ordered with a 300 gallon water tank, pump, and other firefighting tools.  The brush truck, smaller and more agile than a traditional firetruck, allows for off-road firefighting, pump pressure to spray water great distances and has the ability to “pump-and-roll” (drive while the pump is engaged, allowing a firefighter to use a hose to spray water on the fire).

The $285,000 brush truck has enhanced features, most not available 30 years ago, such as increased pump flow, increased water tank size, LED floodlights and more.  Although the brush truck was originally designed for rural and rugged areas, the RTFD utilizes the brush truck for multiple purposes and is now also able to repurpose the 30+ year old brush truck it is replacing.
