[ARCHIVED] Morris Habitat for Humanity Bennett Avenue Project Unveiling

Morris Habitat for Humanity - Bennet Avenue, The Crossings project unveiling

On June 1, 2023, the Morris Habitat for Humanity group unveiled its largest-ever project, The Crossings at Bennett Avenue in Randolph. The first thirteen condominiums were dedicated at the June 1 ceremony, with another twelve planned.

The dedication ceremony for the largest build in its 38-year history was highlighted by comments from Senator Anthony Bucco, County of Morris Board of County Commissioners Deputy Director Christine Myers and Commissioner Stephen Shaw, Randolph Township Mayor Lou Nisivoccia, Randolph Township Manager Greg Poff and other dignitaries.

Morris Habitat for Humanity is a local chapter of the international nonprofit organization, brought to public attention by former President Jimmy Carter in the early 1980s. Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers and donated materials to build homes for low-income families.

The Crossings at Bennett Avenue will house 38 residents from 13 families in the newly completed units, including 20 children and one U.S. military veteran.

The Crossings’ adults completed their volunteer requirement—a minimum of 300 hours of “sweat equity”—by working on their own condominiums, other Habitat for Humanity homes, helping in the organization’s ReStore or helping elsewhere.
