An Ordinance of the Township of Randolph, Morris County, New Jersey Changing the Name of Ironia Road to Ironia Mendham Road
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A.40:67-1(k), the governing body of a municipality may adopt ordinances to provide for the changing of names of streets within the municipality; and
WHEREAS; residents located on Ironia Road in the Township of Randolph (“Township”) requested that the Township consider changing the name of Ironia Road due to confusion that occurs with properties located on Ironia Road in the Township of Chester; and
WHEREAS, the residents advised that several properties located on Ironia Road in the Township of Randolph share the exact same house number, street name and zip code with residents located on Ironia Road in the Township of Chester; and
WHEREAS, the residents have advised that the duplicate addresses have resulted in improper emergency dispatching, missed and wrong deliveries, and utility mix-ups (including the near shut off of electricity); and
WHEREAS, the original name of Ironia Road in the Township was Ironia Mendham Road and the residents located on Ironia Road have requested that the name of Ironia Road be changed back to Ironia Mendham Road; and
WHEREAS, the Township desires to change the name of Ironia Road back to its original name of Ironia Mendham Road to alleviate the confusion with properties located on Ironia Road in the Township of Chester.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the Township of Randolph, County of Morris, State of New Jersey as follows:
SECTION ONE. The name of Ironia Road in the Township of Randolph be and hereby is changed to Ironia Mendham Road.
SECTION TWO. Appropriate signage shall be installed to reflect this street name change.
SECTION THREE. All Ordinances of the Township of Randolph which are inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed as to the extent of such inconsistency.
SECTION FOUR. If any section, subsection, clause, or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional or invalid by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance.
SECTION FIVE. This Ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.

ORDINANCE NO. 32-21
Notice is hereby given that an Ordinance entitled “An Ordinance of the Township of Randolph, Morris County New Jersey Changing the Name of Ironia Road to Ironia Mendham Road” was submitted in writing at a regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Randolph, County of Morris, State of New Jersey, held on September 23, 2021 and was introduced, read by title and passed on first reading. A Statement of Purpose of the Ordinance is contained below. The Governing Body of the Township of Randolph will further consider the Ordinance for second reading and final passage thereof at their regular meeting to be held on October 7, 2021 at 5 p.m. prevailing time, at the Municipal Building, 502 Millbrook Avenue, Randolph, New Jersey 07869, at which time and place a public hearing will be heard thereon by the Governing Body and all parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard concerning said Ordinance.
Statement of Purpose of Ordinance
The purpose of the above Ordinance is to change the name of Ironia Road in the Township of Randolph back to its original name of Ironia Mendham Road to alleviate the confusion with properties located on Ironia Road in the Township of Chester.A copy of the full Ordinance is available to any member of the general public, without cost, at the Township of Randolph, Municipal Building, Millbrook Avenue, Randolph, New Jersey, at the Office of the Township Clerk, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
