Randolph’s 2020 Freedom Festival & Fireworks Cancelled
Posted: April 28, 2020
Updated June 12, 2020: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of Randolph Township’s fireworks display, which was scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2020. This was a difficult decision to make, however, the health and safety of our community and residents are always top priority. It is hard to imagine a 4th of July celebration without fireworks at the County College of Morris, but we look forward to celebrating together as a town in 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Randolph Kiwanis Club and Randolph Township announce the cancellation of the three-day Randolph Freedom Festival, including Randolph’s Freedom Parade, scheduled for Fourth of July weekend.
The decision to cancel the event was not made lightly, as the Randolph Freedom Festival is a great annual tradition that brings our community together. However, given the painful reality of COVID-19 and our need to continue to prioritize the health and safety of our residents, we felt this was the right thing to do.
Coordinating the annual Randolph Freedom Festival is a big logistical undertaking requiring much lead-time and many people working together as a team. To this end, continuing to plan this event in the face of COVID-19 is impractical. In addition, the scope of the pandemic and its impact remain unknown.
The Randolph Kiwanis Club and Randolph Township would like to thank all of our community members who contribute significant investments of time, money and energy to Randolph’s Freedom Festival: the organizers, volunteers, youth, community organizations, vendors and local stakeholders.
We look forward to planning and celebrating with our community next year, at the 2021 Randolph Freedom Festival!
Randolph’s Freedom Festival is sponsored and run by the all-volunteer, not-for-profit Randolph Kiwanis Club in partnership with Randolph Township. All net proceeds benefit local charities.
We ask those who are able to consider making a donation to the Randolph Kiwanis Club to help offset the unexpected loss of income from the 2020 Freedom Festival and ensure a bright future for this great tradition in Randolph. Checks made payable to Randolph Kiwanis Club may be mailed to PO Box 106, Mt. Freedom, NJ 07970. All donations will be gratefully acknowledged.
