Barbara Lukavich Receives Award
Posted: May 28, 2019
On Monday, May 13, 2019, Barbara Lukavich received the prestigious 4th Annual Cissy Laureys Award from Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi during a ceremony at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum.
The Cissy Laureys award for outstanding community service recognizes a deserving person for their service to the constituencies that the late Morris County freeholder and Netcong councilwoman Laureys championed.
Barbara joined the Randolph Township Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department in the fall of 1998 and since her first day on the job she has been making a difference in the lives of township senior citizens. Working with the senior population is not just a job, it is her passion. Barbara makes herself available to the seniors day and night; she often works beyond normal work hours to ensure those in need receive assistance.
Barbara works hard to educate the senior community on the services available to them from the township, the county, the state and many local organizations. She always goes the “extra mile” to ensure that they feel comfortable with any process in which they are involved, and that they obtain the services necessary at the conclusion of the process.
When a senior needs an advocate, Barbara steps in; when the senior community needs a voice to raise awareness on more global issues, she’s right there lending hers. Seniors have used the words kind, supportive, knowledgeable, vibrant and helpful to describe Barbara.
Whether large or small, Barbara has made a difference in the lives of the senior citizens in Randolph Township. She is truly a community friend and ambassador for our seniors. Barbara has helped make Randolph Township a better place and we are so fortunate to have her.
