Coronavirus Information Update

Today, April 7 is World Health Day. We thank all of our residents who are first responders, doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals who are providing care to others each day and especially during this health emergency. Let’s honor and celebrate these heroes by staying home and flattening the curve!

CONFIRMED CASES
As of today, there are 44,416 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey, 2,239 of which are in Morris County. Ten new cases in Randolph were confirmed, bringing the total to 117. Of the 117 cases, twenty households have more than one individual. Fourteen individuals are currently hospitalized. All individuals considered to be close contacts of the confirmed cases are in the process of being reached and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Unfortunately, there have been 2 fatalities in our community from this terrible virus.

Eight of the cases and one of the fatalities included in the above numbers are associated with long-term care facilities. Six of the fourteen individuals currently hospitalized are residents of these facilities.

STATE/COUNTY/LOCAL UPDATE
Governor Murphy has issued Executive Order 118 ordering the closure of all county and state parks and forests as of 8:00 p.m. today due to the COVID-19 crisis. The governor said the parks and forests were too often becoming gathering places where social distancing is not being observed.

The Randolph Township park facilities remain closed, however, our trail system is open. Trail users are urged to maintain social distancing practices while on the township trails.
