Coronavirus Information Update

Your continued patience and cooperation during this ongoing health emergency is very much appreciated. We realize that this is a challenging time for everyone and we know that our community will get through this together and be stronger. Below is a summary of the most recent information and news.

CONFIRMED CASES
As of today, there are 51,027 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey, 2,645 of which are in Morris County. Four new cases in Randolph were confirmed, bringing the total to 133. Of the 133 cases, twenty-two households have more than one individual. Fourteen individuals are currently hospitalized. All individuals considered to be close contacts of the confirmed cases are in the process of being reached and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Twenty-two of the confirmed cases have resolved and the individuals can return to normal activities.

It is with great sadness that we must report 3 additional fatalities, bringing the total to five. Our thoughts are with the families at this extremely difficult time. The families have requested that out of respect for their privacy, no further information be released.

Ten of the cases and three of the fatalities included in the above numbers are associated with long-term care facilities. Six of the fourteen individuals currently hospitalized are residents of these facilities.

STATE UPDATE
On April 8, 2020, Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 122, which requires the closure of all non-essential construction projects and imposes additional mitigation requirements on essential retail businesses and customers of those businesses such as limiting the number of people in the store and the mandatory wearing of a face covering.

LOCAL INFORMATION
Randolph Trails Remain Open
Governor Murphy’s Executive Order No. 118 issued on Wednesday, April 7, 2020, closed state and county parks and trails. The township made the decision to keep the entire municipal trail system open, with the exception of specific sections that are on county property. View a trail map depicting the township trail system and the trails that remain open . Residents are encouraged to utilize the township trail system, but must follow appropriate social distancing measures. Residents with questions about the trails may contact the township recreation department at 973.989.7081.

Holiday Schedule for Municipal Offices & Recycling Center
Municipal offices are currently closed to the public, but staff is available to answer calls. However, Friday, April 10 is a holiday and offices will be completely closed. Critical staff members will be working on the holiday and through the weekend, however, they will not be available on those days to respond to phone calls or e-mails. The recycling center on Sussex Turnpike will be closed on Friday, April 10 and Sunday, April 12; the recycling center will be open on Saturday, April 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
