Thank you for continuing to do your part to flatten the curve of this terrible virus. Below is a summary of the most recent information and news.
CONFIRMED CASES
As of today: 54,588 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in NJ; 2,771 cases in Morris County; 11 new cases in Randolph, bringing total to date to 144.
Of the 144 cases: 23 households have more than one individual; 22 individuals have had symptoms resolve and can return to normal activities; 15 individuals are currently hospitalized.
Sadly, our community has had 5 fatalities to date. Our thoughts continue to be with those families at this extremely difficult time. The families have requested that no further information be released.
Included in the numbers above: 12 of the cases and 3 of the fatalities are associated with long-term care facilities; 8 of the 15 individuals currently hospitalized are residents of these facilities.
All individuals considered to be close contacts of the confirmed cases are contacted and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.
STATE UPDATE
Governor Murphy has issued Executive Order No. 123 extending the grace period on insurance premiums for residents who may be unable to pay due to financial hardship from COVID-19. Read more
LOCAL INFORMATION
Residents continue to ask why Randolph Township does not provide more detail as to the individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19. Some have even noted that other towns supply this information. At the time of the initial confirmed case in Randolph, the township manager and the Randolph Township Health Department reviewed the release of case information in detail with the New Jersey Department of Health. The state was very firm in its guidance that the release of specific age and gender information regarding confirmed cases was not permissible. The Morris County Office of Health Management reiterated the same information to township staff last week. We cannot speak for other towns and how they handle their information, but Randolph Township will not be releasing such details unless the state and county advise otherwise.
