Coronavirus Information Update

As you know, our park facilities are closed, but the trails remain open. With the forecast of beautiful weather for the weekend, we remind you to remain vigilant by continuing to socially distance yourselves from others while on the trails and wear masks if possible. We appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding. Below is a summary of the most recent information/actions related to COVID-19.

CONFIRMED CASES
As of today: 121,190 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in NJ; 5,354 cases in Morris County. There were no new cases in Randolph; the total to date is 244.

Of the 244 cases: 41 households have more than one individual; 11 individuals are currently hospitalized; 130 individuals have had symptoms resolve and can return to normal activities.

Sadly, today we must report 1 additional fatality, bringing the total to 19. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families who have lost loved ones. The families have requested that no further information be released.

Included in the numbers above: 22 of the cases and 10 of the fatalities are associated with long-term care facilities; 4 of the 11 individuals currently hospitalized are residents of these facilities.

All individuals considered to be close contacts of the confirmed cases are contacted and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

May is Mental Health Month
Morris County residents should seek help if experiencing difficulty dealing with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The Essex and Morris Mental Health Association contends it is vitally important during this very unusual time to take care of ourselves physically and mentally. It is especially appropriate to raise this issue as we enter May, which is Mental Health Month across our county, state and nation. LOCAL INFORMATION
May 1 Property Tax Payments Extension of Grace Period
On April 28, 2020, Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No 130 which authorizes municipalities by resolution to extend the 2nd quarter property tax grace period from May 10, 2020 to June 1, 2020. The township council held an emergency council meeting today, May 1, and adopted Resolution R-124-20, extending the grace period to June 1, 2020. Payments can be made online, mailed to 502 Millbrook Avenue, or dropped off in the metal collection box in front of the municipal building.
