Randolph Lake Open
Posted: June 28, 2019
In light of recently reported issues with algae in Lake Hopatcong, the township has received several inquiries regarding the status of the Randolph Park Beach.
We are happy to advise at this time that Randolph Park Beach is currently open.
Randolph Lake is a spring-fed lake that does not connect directly to any other waterways. To help maintain water quality, the lake is treated for algae both prior to and during the beach season. We have been in contact this week with the firm that provides this service to confirm that there has been no observations of hazardous algae growth within Randolph Lake.
In addition, prior to the beach opening this year, the township DPW and parks department performed work regrading the overflow parking lot and creating an earthen berm to reduce storm run-off and erosion into the lake. As per NJ standards, the health department conducts weekly tests of the water in the swim area and swim lanes to make sure our water conforms to safety guidelines.
Randolph Park is currently open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Entry is limited on weekends and holidays to Randolph Park beach members and Randolph Township residents.
