Solar Eclipse Projector Building & Viewing
Posted: August 16, 2017
Artworks Studio is hosting a free event this Monday, August 21, 2017 from 1:20 to 4:00 p.m. at Freedom Park Pavilion to build a simple and safe NASA-approved projector to view the solar eclipse.
Bring a cereal box or other similar box and Artworks will supply foil, pins, tape and paper. That is all that is needed! The projector is not for looking towards the sun—to use it, you will put your back to the sun and view a crisp shadow of the eclipse in your projector.
It is very important to not look directly at the eclipse unless you are using approved viewing glasses or a projector—severe eye damage can occur.
Join us from 1:20 - 2:00 p.m. to build your projector, then stay to view the eclipse! The eclipse begins at 1:22 p.m. and will peak at 2:44 p.m. with 73% coverage. The eclipse will end at 4:00 p.m.
To see how to build your own projector at home, go to Artworks Studio’s Facebook page and watch the NASA-produced tutorial.
We hope to see you on Monday. No registration required, just show up!
Here’s to a cloud-free, safe and exciting eclipse!!
