Youth Programs

Detailed program information, including meeting dates/times, registration dates and applicable fees, is available for programs currently enrolling participants through our online registration site. Information will also be publicized through the Randolph Quarterly, the 6-week calendars provided at the schools, and the Randolph Reporter. - Fall
Tennis Lessons
Lessons include instruction on serving, forehand, backhand, volleying and match play. This program consists of four 1-hour lessons held on Saturdays at Brundage Park for girls and boys at beginner/intermediate levels of play. Lessons typically begin in October. Participants must have sneakers and a racquet.
Who: Ages 9 to adult

Ice Hockey
The Mite-Bantam teams compete among towns throughout Morris County. The Mite-Bantam season runs from October to late March.
Who: Ages 5 to 14, broken down as follows:
Mini-Mites: Ages 5 to 6
Mites: Ages 7 to 8
Squirts: Ages 9 to 10
Pee Wee: Ages 11 to 12
Bantam: Ages 13 to 14

Soccer Clinic
This clinic, open to boys and girls of all skill levels, is designed to teach basic and advanced skills in a fun, relaxed environment. Clinic is held in November, during the teachers’ convention, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Freedom Park turf field.
Who: Grades K through 8

Girls’ Lacrosse
Recreation girls’ lacrosse offers competitive fall leagues.
Who: Grades 3 through 12 as follows:
3rd & 4th grade: practices and tournament
5th & 6th grade: tournament style games in Mt. Olive league
7th - 12th grade: tournament style games at Randolph High School

Cross Country
The recreation department’s cross country teams form in mid-August for county-wide competition throughout September and October. Open to boys and girls.
Who: Ages 7 to 15 (as of December 31)

Fall Soccer
The fall boys’ and girls’ soccer programs begin in late August and run into October.
Who: Grades 1 through 12 as of September, broken down as follows:
Micro 1: 1st grade
Micro 2: 2nd grade
C League: 3rd & 4th grade
B League: 5th & 6th grade
A League: 7th & 8th grade
Co-ed High School: 9th through 12th grade

Flag Football
This league is designed to introduce beginning football skills in a fun, non-tackle setting. Teams compete among themselves. League play commences in September.
Who: Ages 5 to 7 (as of September 1)

Youth Football
The Randolph Bulldogs Junior Football program fields 7 teams in county-wide leagues for boys of various ages. League play runs from September into November.
Who: Grades 2 to 8, broken down as follows:
Pre-Clinic: Age 7-8
Clinic: Ages 8-9
Super Pee-Wee: Age 10
Pee-Wee: Age 11
Junior Varsity: Age 12
Varsity: Ages 13-14

Boys’ Basketball
The recreation department coordinates a number of basketball programs for boys, including an instructional clinic, structured in-town leagues, as well as travel teams.
Who: Grades K through 12, broken down as follows:
Clinic: Grades K through 2
Town Leagues: Grades 3 through 12
Travel: Grades 4 through 8 (required tryouts in October)

Instructional clinics designed to introduce basic skills as well as competitive teams are offered for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Clinic teams compete amongst themselves, while older wrestlers compete in a county-wide league. Season runs November through February.

- Spring
Girls’ Lacrosse
The department organizes competitive teams which compete in the New Jersey Junior Girls’ Lacrosse League.
Who: Grades K through 9
Registration: January
Girls’ Softball
In-town leagues as well as three travel teams will be formed for girls. Season runs April through June.
Who: Girls, up to age 14, broken down as follows:
Town Leagues: Grades K through 8

Little League Baseball
Local leagues will be formed by age and skill level. All-star teams for ages 8 and up will be formed through a selection process for play at the end of the regular season. Season runs April through June.
Who: Grade K through age 16, broken down as follows:
Ages 5-7 as of August 31 is T-Ball and Farm League
Ages 8-12 as of August 31 is Little League (AAA, Minors and Majors)
Ages 13-16 as of August 31 is Senior Little League

Teams are formed to compete in the Lakeland Junior Track and Field League. This league is not offered to high school students. Season runs from March through June.

Cheerleading Clinic
The department offers an instructional clinic where participants will learn the cheers needed to try out for the Junior Football Cheerleading. The clinic is offered 3-4 sessions during March/April.

- Summer
Summer Tennis Lessons
Lessons include instruction on serving, forehand, backhand, volleying and match play. Four 2-week sessions which consist of eight 55-minute lessons are held Mondays through Thursdays (with Fridays reserved for make-ups only) at the Brundage Park tennis courts. Children register according to age and ability. Participants must have sneakers and a racquet.
Who: Ages 5 to 17
Registration: April
Swim Team
Randolph participates in the North Jersey Regional Lakes League. Teams typically practice on weekdays and meets are typically held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Who: Ages 6 to 18
Registration: June
Sports Reminder
In order to have a safe, happy athletic experience, please leave plenty of time to get to your scheduled activity and keep the following in mind:
- Park in designated parking places only. Parking on grass or trails is not allowed in any township parks.
- Alcohol is prohibited in the parks and on school property.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash not exceeding six feet in length.
Randolph Township Police will be enforcing these township ordinances and will issue summons for ordinance violations.
For field closures, please check the Community Hotline at 866.802.0837 or check for recreation alerts on the home page of this website. The hotline and alert are updated by 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, by 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays, and by 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.
Finally, please help keep games and practices in perspective. These games are played for the enjoyment of the children playing them. Let the players play, the coaches coach, and the officials officiate. Be positive and have fun!
